Annual Meeting Summary

The Annual Meeting was held on April 27th at the American Legion Hall in Hardwick. With a table or two of food, and Rusty behind the bar, the attendees had a chance to mingle and learn about the past year from Board President Katrina Rationale, General Manager Emily Hershberger, Board Treasurer Ted Gates, and keynote speaker Brittany Baird from National Co-op Grocers (NCG).

The co-op has grown steadily in sales over the past four years, with a targeted $6.4 million for 2025, compared to $2.5 million in 2021, representing a successful integration with Mill Street location. In 2024, we welcomed 314 new members (welcome!) and say in increase in sales of more than 15% in produce, and 8.5% in bulk. All together, 25.44% of our sales last year were of local products. Additionally, the co-op in 2024 employed over 60 people on a full- and part-time basis.

With this kind of growth comes change, and we have seen a lot of that over the past year, too. We installed a new freezer and cooler systems that have already helped us reduce our electric bill compared to the same period last year. Additionally, there are a number of internal systems updates that are aimed at helping to more effectively manage a growing co-op like ours, including payroll systems and how we have started handling customer requests, among others.

Thank you for continuing to support us, shopping locally, and helping your co-op flourish.

Co+op Basics Has Arrived at Buffalo Mountain!

We’re excited to announce that Buffalo Mountain Co-op has officially brought the Co+op Basics program to our shelves. Co+op Basics is a nationwide initiative from National Co-op Grocers (NCG) focused on bringing everyday low prices to organic and natural products.

You’ve probably already noticed the Co+op Basics signs throughout the store, highlighting affordable prices on hundreds of pantry staples and household essentials—many of them organic. That includes items like organic canned beans, pasta, grains, dairy, and more.

Store Arrangement

Because of bringing in over 200 new items, a few items are in new places, though we believe the store layout is more intuitive than it was before. If there is something you can’t find, please ask. We’re happy to help!
